Mansfield Netwokd Relaunch

 

NOMADS (Network Of Mansfield And District Scouts) are holding a meeting on Wednesday 10th Feb at Forest Town Welfare to relaunch the Network section in the District. All 18-25 year old are welcome to come find out what Network is and how we can make Network work for YOU. The Meeting starts at 8pm.

 


 

Notts Network go on Strike...

 

...At our Christmas party that is. Members from Nottinghamshire Networks joined up for our Christmas party which was held at the Bowling Alley in Nottingham. for some it was the first time they has met members for other Networks as members from the newly formed Ashfield Network were in attendence. There was some slight competition between the lanes to see who could get the highest score but over all a fun night was had by all. If you would like to do any events as a county let Justin know and we cna look to arrnage them.

Ice Ice Baby

Cavendish Network in the city recently took to the ice when they visited the Outdoor Ice Rink in Nottinghams Old Market Square. The event has now become something of a yearly tradition. Lots of the group turned up to try out the Outdoor Rink and to see who would be the first to fall over. Picture of the event will appear soon on the Pictures page.


 County Mad

Once again that time of year is approching us fast when hundreds of Scouts, Guids Rangers and Explorers race around Walseby Forest in our Annual County Mad event. The past few years have seen excellant numbers of helpers from the Network Section and we once again would like to ask if your are free and would like to run a base or help in any way to please contact the event team.

County Team Changes:

 

The past few weeks have seen a number of changes within the county team structure. Rita Hicken has stepped down as DCC Development and Steve Cree has now accepted this role. Steve was our ACC 10-25. This means that all "count sectional Leaders now revert back to the old ACC titles.

Alison Taylor will be stepping over to look after UK contingent 2011. Ali will remain County Network Leader but will not be running Network after then end of the year. We would like to thank Ali for all her hard work and wish her all the best in her future role as contingent leader.

After 6 years as County Secretary Justin will leave this post and take up role as ACC Network for Nottinghamshire. Lisa Bingham will take over as Secretary.  Graham Lea leaves his post as administrator and will now become the Network Chairperson. This now means we are looking for a new Network Administrator so if anyone knows anyone interested, please contact Justin.

Ashfield Network Launch

 

 

 Ashfield District have recently lqaunched their own Network Section. Currently meeting every other week on Monday Evenings at the Annesley Woodhouse Scout HQ on Forest Road. The inital Launch saw roughtly 14 new Network members have a short presentation from DC Matt Beardall on what Network IS and how to get the best out of it. There was then a Pub Quiz to get everyone talking and interacting with each other foolowed by the members themselfs asking to plan their own program. If you live in the Ashfeild District and want to know more about your new Network sections, either speak to Matt Beardall or contact Jsutin Fisher ACC Network.

 

 


 SouthWest Notts Network:

The new Network group covering South West Notts District Known as Trent Network are meeting every Tuesday in the Beeston are. Below is a link to their program. If you would like to join or if would like to visit you are always more than welcome

D of E

 

The main awards of The Chief Scout's Platinum, Chief Scout's Diamond and The Queen's Scout Award are linked to a Duke of Edinburgh Award. If you haven't already done so, you should consider registering for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award now. It will give you extra recognition for your achievements in Scouting.

To obtain a  The Queen's Scout Award you need to either hold the DofE Award at the appropriate level or complete four challenges. The four challenges for each of the main Awards are exactly the same as the sections of the D of E Awards, namely:

· Skills · Physical Recreation · Service · Expedition ·

There is an extra challenge of a five-day residential experience for The Queen's Scout Award (and Gold DofE Award).
